Why no two patterns are alike

Every True Blue pattern passes through a maker’s hands. The template is positioned by eye, resist paste is applied manually, and the cloth is dipped repeatedly in an indigo bath. Each step leaves room for tiny variations.

The paste may settle a little differently along an edge. One part of the fabric may absorb more dye than another. The number and timing of the dips create shifts from soft blue to deep indigo. When the resist is washed away, those differences become the signature of that particular piece.

Variation is the mark of the maker

We use product photographs to show the design and overall color, but a handmade piece will never be an exact mechanical copy. That individuality is not a flaw—it is evidence of the traditional process that made it.
